Autistic artist and friend of Autism Together, Alex has a solo exhibition in Liverpool

Alex Baldwin, Wirral autistic artist and friend of Autism Together, is launching his new solo exhibition ‘A World in Colour’ in Liverpool later this month.

The exhibition opens at Heart Liverpool Coffee & Charity, on Duke Street in the city centre, on Friday 26th June from 7pm to 9pm, with a quieter viewing session available from 6.30pm to 7pm. Entry is free!

Alex has a long-standing connection with Autism Together, having attended our children’s services in his youth – he still often visits our community cafés and head office.

Known for his vibrant use of coloured pencils and pens in his art, Alex has created a collection of artworks inspired by different countries across five continents, exploring their culture, wildlife, and landmarks. Each piece takes around two to three days to complete.

Alex then recruits friends and contacts to take these pictures on holiday with them. Completing these global “art missions” has helped him build friendships and connections around the world. So far his work has reached more than 76 countries and 86 territories!

Visitors to the opening night can learn more about Alex’s art and even sign up to take one of Alex’s artworks to a new destination around the world.

The event itself (Friday 26th June, 7-9pm) has been designed to be autism-friendly and welcoming to all visitors. There will be no loud music, flashing lights, or formal expectations. Visitors are welcome to arrive, browse the exhibition at their own pace, take breaks when needed, and leave whenever they choose.

To help make the event as accessible as possible, the quieter viewing experience is from 6.30pm-7pm before the official opening event. During this time there will be no music and no coffee service, providing a calmer environment for visitors who may prefer a lower-sensory experience.

Good luck Alex!

The exhibition is at Heart Liverpool Coffee & Charity, 104 Duke Street, Liverpool, L1 5AG.
