Our charity has always proudly championed the creativity of the people we support.
This is especially true in our Day Services, where those who attend are encouraged to explore their artistic side and enjoy the process of making and creating, through arts and crafts.
Historically, we have had a day service location which specialises in creative arts – Gallagher House. But in recent years we have opened up all our Day Service areas to offer arts and crafts for autistic adults attending.
We aim to offer a range of activity choices to the people we support. While our Raby Gardens area is perfect for people who like to get outdoors and explore our woodlands or help out on our farm, there’s also the option of staying indoors and getting arty!
While our Gallagher House location is still set up to offer the widest range of options when it comes to arts and crafts for autistic individuals attending, we also offer a range of less crafty pursuits, such as food preparation and music.
We have also embraced technology to help expand the creativity of the people we support. Along with traditional means of art-making, our day services now offer autistic adults new ways to get creative, with the chance to use computers to make artworks, try their hand at 3D printing,
or even give podcasting a go.
With all this fantastic creativity happening with the people we support, we’re keen to share this work with our supporters and the local community, whenever we can. Along with showcasing these creative projects via our website and social media, the people we support have been involved in multiple art exhibitions in Wirral, where the public has been able to enjoy their artworks in person.
Recent exhibitions include a show at Start-Yard in Birkenhead, being part of a touring exhibition of local libraries which championed Wirral’s ‘underground art scene’, and having a fantastic showcase event in spring 2025 at Birkenhead Park during Autism Acceptance Month.
In fact, the last show was so successful that we’ve been invited back in April 2026 – to share more of the wonderful artworks created by the people we support.
