We are inviting the public to join us in remembrance this November, in the heart of historic Bromborough Pool Village in Wirral.
Our Remembrance Day service will commemorate members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty. The event will take place outside the village’s former church building on York Street. The Grade-II listed St Matthew’s Church building was closed for worship in 2007 and is now used to provide music sessions for autistic adults accessing our Day Services.
The morning event, which is free for the public to attend, will be led by Autism Together Service Managers Steve Davis, who previously served in the armed forces, and Dean Ravera.
The service will take place on Tuesday, 11th November, starting promptly at 10.45am, outside the church entrance, in front of the village’s war memorial which we refurbished last year. At 11am there will be a two-minute silence, followed by a rendition of ‘The Last Post’.
Our CEO Richard Whitby said:
“We’re delighted to invite the Wirral public to join us for a special service on Poppy Day, where we’ll honour the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces.
“The people we support will also be getting involved, crafting handmade poppies to decorate the area where our service will be held. We do hope to see many of you on November 11th, as we come together in remembrance.”
We have a free car park within the village, located next door to our Bromborough Pool Café & Shop, at The Green, CH62 4TT. The Café also has toilet facilities and refreshments for sale, with a 10% veteran’s discount on the day.
The Remembrance Service is the first in a series of upcoming events for Autism Together, including the return of our popular autism-friendly grotto experience and a carol service, all coming to Bromborough Pool Village this December.
Further details about these events will be released via the website and our Facebook page (facebook.com/AutismtogetherUK) in the coming weeks.
