We strive to provide an exceptional service to autistic people in our care, using collaboration and experience to improve the quality of life for each individual we support. Our Supported Living service is a vital part of this.
Our charity, Autism Together, is based in Wirral, Merseyside, and has been dedicated to providing specialist autism services for over 55 years. We are committed to understanding how this complex condition affects each individual, providing them with the structure to live life to the full, based on their personal needs and aspirations.
Of course, these will vary depending on the individual, but our aim is always to provide a setting where the person feels safe, supported, and at home.
All the supported living options we offer are personalised and adapted to meet the individual needs of those who call them home. All those within our Supported Living service have their own tenancy and their own front door key, and are supported to maintain this.
The service offers everything from shared support through to a comprehensive two-to-one, 24-hour, seven-days-a-week support set-up. Our aim is to match a person’s individual needs with the security and experience of an extensive and highly-trained staff team to support them.
It’s so important to us that tenants love the place they’re living in, and that it truly feels like home. Therefore, we involve them in choosing the furniture they would like and the decoration of their flats. This way, each flat is unique to the person living there.
Staff are on hand to help the people we support access daily life in their neighbourhoods. Accessing the community by visiting the likes of local restaurants, pubs, shops and services is vital in this.
There are also opportunities to enjoy group activities within the property, making use of communal spaces like the lounge, kitchen or garden. We believe in expanding or adapting the activities we offer, to suit as many people as possible.
This often includes group outings for people we support living within the property, giving a fantastic opportunity to travel beyond the local area while bonding with other housemates and making new friendships. If people are unable to access outdoor group activities, we will create indoor activities to enjoy.
